Gait Symmetry Analysis Based on Dynamic Time Warping

Background: Gait deviations may negatively affect the articular surfaces of lower extremity joints and lead to some minor degenerative changes. The simplest method for gait evaluation is assess symmetry its parameters, assuming that each undisturbed should be symmetrical. This study aims quantify degree asymmetry kinematic kinetic parameters caused by presence different ankle orthosis settings using Dynamic Time Warping (DTW). Methods: Barefoot with four walker were investigated in eighteen healthy persons. Kinematic measured Vicon system Kistler plates. Symmetry was assessed DTW method. Results: It shown significantly disturbs all limb only knee hip torques. highest values noted set at 15° dorsiflexion (15DF). Conclusions: allowed us throughout cycle relation barefoot walking. Our results suggest position analysed this fulfills protective function, but 15DF can overload joints.
